SERVED WITH THE 4780 TH SUPPLY SQUADRON, WITH TOURS IN FRANCE AND FLIGHTS INTO LAOS DURING THE VIETNAM WAR Born March 24th 1943 in New Orleans,La. then moved to Morgan City,La. Later we moved to Galena Park ,Tx In 1947 heard the ship blew up in Texas City 50 miles away also saw the smoke from the fires for several days after. When mom divorced dad we moved to San Diego,Ca to be close to my brother Stan and Jimmy who were in the Navy. Mom, for financial reasons wanted Cyrus and I back in Morgan City so he and I hitchiked (we were 14 and 15) Later we took a bus back to San Diego where Cyrus joined the Army and became a paratrooper. The next year I joined the Air Force. Many years later I went on to manage several corporations in California even though I only completed the 8th grade and had a GED. Later I invented the AR 15 pistol and enhancements for many other combat weapons. March 24 1960 to December 19, 1963 Active Reserve. Served in Amarillo AFB, Keflavick,Iceland,Perrin AFB, Chaumont France, at Perrin AFB took special training to be able to fly any fighter aircraft that had 2 seats. First flight was in a T33 of which one in our class crashed killing pilot and instructor. First flight in a F102, another student crashed killing both pilot and instructor. Received broken eardrum and perforated lung in a high altitude chamber accident. Also received the Good Conduct Medal
