BRYAN M. BITTERMAN. BORN DECEMBER 27,1972 IN ROSEBURG OREGON. THE SON OF FRED AND WANDA BITTERAN. BRYAN SERVED ABOARD THE USS KITTY HAWK AS AN AIR ORDINANCE MAN. THE USS KITTY HAWK WAS AN OIL POWERED CARRIER WITH A LENGTH OF 1068.9 FEET AND HELD A CREW OF 5624 OFFICERS AND CREWMEN . THE KITTY HAWK WAS THE LAST OIL POWERED IN THE US NAVY AFTER THE DECOMMISSION OF THE USS RANGER. IT HELD A TOP CRUISING SPEED OF 33 KNOTS. IT WAS DECOMMISSIONED ON MAY 12, 2009. BRYAN SERVED ABOARD SHIP FROM 1992 TO 1994 WITH THE MAIN STATION BEING SAN DIEGO,CA. DURING HER TIME OF SERVICE THE KITTY HAWK WAS DEPLOYED TO THE WESTERN PACIFIC IN 1992 WHERE SHE SERVED 9 DAYS OFF THE COAST OF SOMALIA IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION RESTORE HOPE AIDING US MARINES AND COALITION FORCES. ON THE 27TH DAY OF DECEMBER 1992, THE SHIP RUSHED TO THE PERSIAN GULF IN RESPONSE TO THE INCREASING IRAQ VIOLATIONS OF THE SANCTIONS IMPOSED BY THE UNITED NATIONS. SEVENTEEN DAYS LATER, THE USS KITTY HAWK LED A JOINT COALITION OFFENSIVE STRIKE AGAINST DESIGNATED TARGETS IN SOUTHERN IRAQ. OTHER STOPS DURING WESTPAC INCLUDED HAWAII, HONG KONG, SINGAPORE AND JEBEL ALI.
