Fred Arthur Bitterman Born June 2 1946 died September 14 2013 Seaman service no 774 43 85 rank SN on Dec 1 1965 Date of entry July 21 1965 4 years of service total active service 3 years and 11 months foreign and sea service 2 years and 8 months served on the USS Arlington 1966 a communications ship. With a personnel allowance of approximately 1000 officers and men. Arlington enhances naval communications by being the fastest , largest, and most modern communications ship in the world. Fred was placed on the ship in June of 1966. And served in the Vietnam War and passed away from small cell cancer caused by Agent Orange during the Vietnam War Fred was born in Great Falls ,Montana ,Son of Benjamin (Ben) and Silvia( Mae) Bitterman both preceded in death. Third of six children. Also preceded in death sister Virginia Fowler and two brothers Gerald ( Jerry) Bitterman and David Bitterman. Survived by two sisters June McCraw and Betty Evans. He was Married on March 22 - 1969 in Dillard Oregon to Wanda L ( Whittington ) Bitterman. He had two sons Bryan Bitterman, and Travis Bitterman and several grandchildren, Fred worked for Doug Co Roofing for 17 years then went to work for Sun Studs Lumber Mill as a chipper and barker operator for 25 years before he retired .He was a very hard worker he gave everything a 100 percent. Fred loved his grandchildren more than life its self and spending time with them. And was a great husband, he loved fishing ,hunting , golfing, going to the coast, going on walks in the Red Woods. LOVED FOREVER
