Patrick W. Kelley was the older brother of Margaret Kelley, our grandmother. He was born in Ohio June 16th 1888, the son of Patrick Kelley and Mary King. In the 1900 federal census he was living in Mahoning County, Youngstown,Ohio. He was 12 years old and was living with his parents and 6 of his 7 siblings. In the 1910 federal census there is a Patrick W. Kelley, age 24, residing at Augur Barracks, Jolo Philipines with the 3rd Infantry. He is married and shows being married for 11 months. He was born in Ohio and his parents were born in Ireland. His occupation at the time was soldier. In the 1920 census he was living in Multnomah county,Or. He was 31 years old, his wife Bessie was 28 and they had 2 daughters, both living at home. Gertrude age 9 and Edith age 6.The US Military records in 1925 show Official National Guard Register shows Patrick W. Kelley as a Captain in the Oregon National Guard. In the 1930 census he was living in Multnomah County. He was 41 years old.He was a Police Officer for the city of Portland. He was a World War I veteran . He died on July 30th 1931 at the age of 43. The Roseburg, VFW is named after him.
