HOME : ROSEBURG, OR

Plaque : Wall 5, Row E, Col 2

I joined the army in 1969. My basic training and AIT or both at the old Forte at Fort Lewis.
Shortly after Advanced infantry training, I departed out of San Francisco bound for the Republic of South Vietnam. I was assigned to the 101st airborne division/air mobile, bravo company, third of the 506th Regiment.
After in country jungle school, I was transported to the battalion on the Cambodian border. My unit had just completed operations in that area.
We served together through several campaigns and a great number of combat assault/ search and destroy missions in both the I Corps and the II Corps from Phan Thiet, all the way to the DMZ. My tour ended in April, 1971.
My duties as an infantryman were rifleman, assistant, machine, gunner, and finally M-60 machine, gunner, which I carried throughout my time in the field.
