Major Taylor was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas April 28, 1973. Major Taylor graduated from Roseburg Senior High School in Roseburg Oregon in 1991. Major Taylor graduated from the University of Idaho in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Crime and Justice Studies. Major Taylor enlisted in the Marine Corps in June of 1991 and reported to MCRD San Diego for Boot Camp. As an enlisted Marine, he attended the Motor Vehicle Operator Course at Del Mar and was subsequently assigned to HQSVC III MEF as a motor vehicle operator. In March 1995, as a Corporal, Major Taylor executed PCS orders to MWSS 274 where he served as a motor vehicle operator and NCOIC of the Group 27 Fuels Branch, Refueler Section. As a Sergeant, Major Taylor applied for and was selected for the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training, BOOST program, and reported to Newport, R.I. in August 1997 as a student. Major Taylor graduated from BOOST in June 1998 and was subsequently selected in to the Marine Enlisted Commissioning and Education program where he attended the University of Idaho from 1998 to 2001. Major Taylor was commissioned a 2ndLt in May 2001. 2ndLt Taylor graduated E Co, The Basic School and proceeded to the U"S. Army Air Defense Artillery School for training as a Low Altitude Air Defense, LAAD Officer, Fort Bliss, Texas in March 2002. Then 2ndLt Taylor was assigned to 1st Stinger Battery MACG- 8, as the S 4 for officer. In June of 2003, 1stLt Taylor was assigned as the Platoon Commander for 2nd Platoon. In June 2004, 1stLt Taylor was reassigned as the S 3A until he attended the Weapons and Tactics Instructor, WTI Course in Yuma, Arizona. Upon completion of WTI, 1stLt Taylor was assigned to HMM 262 as the MACG l8 Detachment OIC for the 31st MEU. After returning from the MEU, then Captain Taylor, held billets as operations officer and later, the Executive officer of 1st stinger Battery. After the deactivation of 1st Stinger Battery Captain Taylor was assigned to MTACS 18, where he served as a Plans officer until his transfer to Marine corps Detachment Fort Bliss, TX where he served as the Executive officer and primary officer instructor for the LAAD Gunner and officer course from May 2008 until July 2011. In July 2011an, Major Taylor reported for duty as the operations officer and Executive officer, 3d LAAD Battalion. Major Taylor was selected as the Marine Air control Group 38 Detachment OIC for the 13th MEU 13 2 deployment and was assigned to Marine Medium Titltrotor Squadron 166, REIN. Major Taylors personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps commendation Medal, gold star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine corps Achievement Medal. Major Taylor is married to the former Mayumi Hanashiro of Okinawa, Japan and they have 3 children, Shawna 20, Brandon 18, and Tiffany 15.
