Served in Normandy- Northern France- Ardennes- Rhineland and central Europe- Was inducted into the Army at Ft. Lewis,Wa.Feb.10,1943-- Went to Ft. Knox,Ky. Armored Force school- basic training-- Participated in Tennessee Maneuvers--Then was shipped to Camp Stewart,Ga. for further training--From Camp Stewart went to Ft. Fisher, North Carolina and Camp Davis,NC for additional training--From Camp Davis, went to Camp Shanks, New Jersey for shipment overseas via New York Harbor. Two weeks on convoy across the Atlantic aboard the British Liner, Dominion Monarch (food was horrible), landed in Liverpool England.--From Liverpool was shipped to Blackshaw Moor camp out of Leek, Staffordshire for additional training, then in March was assault training, boarding the landing craft in Portland Harbor.
