Alvin M. Luellen was born December 31, 1920 on a 160-acre homestead in Gladstone, New Mexico. He attended school in Farley, New Mexico. Alvin moved to Roseburg, OR in 1936 where he worked as a sign maker and painter of Oregon Historical signs. Inducted in to the Army in August 1942 and served in the Pacific, New Guinea, Philippines and around the China Sea. Alvin was honorably discharged in December 1945. He received the Philippine Liberation Medal with One Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, WWWII Victory Medal, American Theater Service Medal and Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.
