George Edward Lee was born in Rippy Iowa May 1 1926. He was one of ten children and he lived on a farm near Scranton Iowa. George Graduated High School in 1944 and enlisted in the US Army on August 21 1944 and was stationed at Fort Leavenworth Kansas. After basic he was assigned to the 314th Infantry Division and was a machine gunner being sent to the hedgerows of France in the thick of battle. He received numerous combat citations for his service. He was discharged on February 12th 1946 and moved to Spring Texas where he became a brick mason. George passed away on July 24th 2003
